Introduction of Sister City

(Yachiho Village merged with one of neighboring towns 'Saku Town' on the 20th of March. The new town was born and named 'Sakuho Town'. Sakuho Town and Fuchu City are willing to keep the sister cities agreement which has been concluded between Yachiho Town and Fuchu City. We have been talked about it positively.)

As part of the city' s 25th Anniversary Commemoration Celebrations, Fuchu City became a sister city of Yachiho Village in Minamisaku County, Nagano Prefecture in October 1974. Yachiho Village has a population of 5,000 people and is a plateau village rich in nature located in the south-eastern part of Nagano prefecture. Located in a region 1,200 meters to 1,800 meters above sea level, Yachiho plateau is said to have the best white birch forest in the East, and a spreading Japanese azalea community. Through all these runs Japan' s highest national highway: Route 299 (Fairy tale highway.) In the plateau are virgin forests, a large number of breath-taking lakes and small marshes, natural parks, rock gardens, field athletics grounds, camping grounds, ski slopes and other facilities that would allow you to visit it throughout the year for sight-seeing or recreational purposes.

For more information regarding exchanges with Yachiho Village, citizens can go to the "Fuchu Friendship Cities Association", which promotes various types of exchanges between citizens.
In December 1985, a citizen recreational facility Yachiho was completed near Yachiho Lake. This became the place where the two cities and their citizens promote exchanges.
